Reitha Joyce Brown (Smith)

Reitha Brown, 83, of Independence, MO passed away February 22, 2018. Memorial services will be 11 am Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will take place before the service beginning at 10 am at the chapel. Reitha was born on July 13, 1934 in Lafayette to Kirby and Essie (Halsey) Smith. She graduated from Oak Grove High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Paul Brown. They were married on August 2, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2017. For several years Reitha was employed at Costco, a job that she loved. She enjoyed speaking to all of the customers. Survivors include; daughters Cathy Cross and Paulette Mitchell-Schwartz and her husband Stanley; granddaughters Meghan Cross and Jessica Mitchell; extended family and many friends. Reitha is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 4 brothers. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice in Reitha’s memory.
