Rose Mary Brown, 92, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014.
Born September 16, 1921 to Joseph and Olive (Davis) Kasper of Wolcott, KS. She was one of seven children. Survivors include her sons, Daniel Brown and David Brown; daughter, Jeanne Brown; brothers, Andrew and Robert Eugene Kasper. Rose Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur David Brown in 1991; sisters, Pauline Carlson, and Josephine Nunnley; brothers, Joseph and Paul Kasper, and her parents.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence. Rose Mary was a founding member of the Independent Democrats for Independence and was very active in Democrative politics. Children and working people rights were very important to her. Rose Mary co-founded the women’s auxiliary of the Carpenters’ Union 1329 where she served in the women’s auxiliary. She also volunteered for the Independence School District, the American Heart Association and was a former member of NOW. For a number of years, Rose Mary co-owned and operated Brown’s Orchard of Independence with her husband.
A Memorial Mass will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; 600 N. Liberty, Independence, MO 64050. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
