Lelia Roberta Brownfield, 73 of Sedalia, MO passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Followed by burial with full military honors at 1:00 p.m., at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the chapel. Lelia was born November 10, 1949 in McKeesport, PA to James Oscar and Anna Mae (Jackson) Brownfield. She was retired from the US Air Force after having served her country from 1977 until retirement in 1991. She graduated from public schools and throughout her career received an Associate’s degree from Longview College and a BA from American National College in Lynchburg, VA. Lelia was a devote Catholic who enjoyed fishing, making floral arrangements, collecting coins, camping, listening to old records and her favorite football team the Pittsburgh Steelers. Additionally, she was a member of the local Heartland Women’s post #1107 and the Legion Riders Chapter #21 along with the DAV. She, enjoyed helping others by baking cakes and pies for them. Lelia, is survived by her siblings, Norma Long, Reta Wright, Elizabeth Harris, Lynda Milton Margret, McCullough, Lynda Milton, and William Brownfield.
