Dennis Browning Obituary January 26,2022
Dennis Keith Browning was born July 1 ,1947 to Eugene and Zola Browning of Independence, Missouri. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1965 and attended Southwest Baptist{Bolivar} for one year. was drafted into service in 1967 and served in Viet Nam in 1968 on Huey Helicopters as gunner .He also served in Berlin as procurement officer for the PX’s ,and driver for Military inspections into East Berlin at Checkpoint Charlie.
Dennis worked for Browning Chevrolet in Fairmount participating in Kiwanis and Fairmount Commercial club. Dennis worked for Penniston Ditching and was Grounds Superintendent at Mount Washington Cemetery. He worked for 20 years at the USPS as postal inspector and mailhandler retiring in 2009.
He built Osage Oaks Arena and Stable in 1989 on his property on 24 Hiway. This facility boards horses ,has horseshows and other horse related events. His passion for horses from the age of 8 was enjoyed by his wife, Laura and daughters, Karen and Amy.
Dennis was a member of The Friends OF Missouri Town 1855, and the Carriage and Driving Society of Greater Kansas City. He served as president of The Golden Circuit Horse Show Circuit, and the Carriage and Driving Society of Greater Kansas City.
Osage Oaks Carriage Tours was his business after retirement, along with his wife Laura and family members. He served Lexington,Mo. The Elms Hotel and Spa. Excelsior Springs,Mo. Belvior Winery.Liberty Mo. Missouri Town 1855, and numerous parades , Festivals and weddings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandaugher ,Elizabeth L. Gruender.
He leaves his wife, Laura Stone Browning, daughters Karen Gruender{ David} and Amy Kirkland{Charles}. Grandchildren William Gruender, Brent Gruender, Charles {CJ} Kirkland JR, Kelsey Gruender and Ryder Kirkland. He also leaves his brothers, Wayne Browning, Mark Browning and a sister Eugenia Smith of Doniphan MO. Along with nieces and nephews
