Alexander Matthew Brumfield was born on March 19,1998 to David and Tara Brumfield. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 11th, 2021. He graduated from Belton High School in 2016 and was working hard to build the new chapter in his life as an adult when God decided he needed him back. Alex is survived and sorely missed by several aunts & uncles, cousins and grandmother. He is especially going to be missed by his parents, siblings and niece and nephews. Amy & Bennett Diehl and their daughter Emerson are going to welcome a son Harrison Alexander at the end of January who will carry on his namesake. Ashley & Henry Calles are going to welcome a son around April 2021 named Leonel. Emerson was always excited to hear when "Uncle Alex" would be coming over. Both of the unborn children are watched over by their Uncle Alex right now and surely inheriting his quick wit, intelligence, kindness and sense of humor.
Alex (or "Babycakes and even Shorty" as his mom calls him) was a strong and thoughtful boy who grew into an even stronger and more thoughtful young man. He was a hard worker, a dedicated son and family member, and constantly curious about the world. Alex loved to learn and was eager to gain all knowledge about the world that he could. Alex also loved sports, especially our local teams Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. He loved hanging out with friends and family and cracking jokes. Alex was a hard worker but also loved to have fun. Alex definitely knew how much his family loved him and he loved them just as much. He touched everyone's lives that he met and was the type of person who could not be forgotten.
"Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid: one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victor."
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, MO, from 6-8:00pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private service will be held for family. Alex will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, MO.
