John Calvin Brune

John Brune, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, February 26, 2016. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at First Christian Church 125 S. Pleasant St, Independence, MO, 64050. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the church. John was born on July 9, 1926 in his home in Independence to John and Selma Brune. He worked for many years as an architectural engineer, retiring from Black and Veatch. John was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II and was a member of First Christian Church for over 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, ping pong, bowling, but he mostly enjoyed being with his wife and family. John will be remembered by his two daughters: Diane Miller of Kansas City, MO, Susan Farrington and husband Rod of Benton, LA; grandchildren Greg Farrington and wife Kristina, Jason Farrington and wife Elizabeth, Jeffery Miller, Michael Farrington and wife Heather; and great-grandchildren Lorynn and Sadie Farrington. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth, in 2011.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church.
