Wallace Keith Burgess
Wallace Keith Burgess, 79, of Independence, MO passed away Thur. Jun. 19, 2003 at the Park Place Care Center. Services will be 11 am, Mon. Jun 23, 2003 at the George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial in Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army. Mr. Burgess was born on Jan. 15, 1924 to Wallace and Helen (Ingram) Burgess in Independence, MO and had been a lifelong area resident. He had been a sheet metal worker in the Kansas City area for many years. He had attended the Fairmount Christian Church and the Mount Washington United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the 86th Infantry Division, Blackhawks. While a member of the Blackhawks, he participated in the Watch on the Rhine, the Battle of the Ruhr Pocket and the Battle in Bavaria which led General Patton�s 3rd Army over the Danube and finally into Austria. At the close of WWII, he was stationed in the Philippines awaiting orders for the invasion of Japan. Mr. Burgess was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1000. He was a former Scout Leader of Troup 276 and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He is survived by his son, Ronald Keith Burgess, Sr. and his wife Anne of Nokesville, VA. Two grandchildren, Denise Bell and husband Daniel of Gaithersburg, MD and Ronald Keith Burgess, Jr and wife Tonya of Nokesville, VA. Five great grandchildren. A sister, Helen Janette Jones of Independence. Two nieces, Cathy Engle and Carolyn Green both of the Independence area.
