Cynthia (Cindy) Anne Burnett, (nee Hoff) age 68 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2018, after a long, brave battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born to Kenneth and Margaret Hoff on January 17, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Cindy attended and graduated from Lutheran High School South, before attending Southwest Missouri State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Finance. It is here she met her future husband Charlie whom she wed on October 14,1972 in St. Louis, MO. And thus, the beautiful adventure began. Cindy earned her MBA from Northern Illinois University. She had a rewarding 32-year career at Hallmark Cards as an Information Technology Analyst.
Family and friends were Cindy’s love and joy. She and Charlie raised two wonderful sons. Cindy loved reading and playing Mahjong with her” Lakewood Ladies”. She was passionate about political issues and had a heart for helping others. Cindy loved spending her free time at the lake with her family; swimming and boating with her grandchildren were always a highlight.
Cindy is survived by her husband Charles V. Burnett, two sons. Scott M. Burnett (Mary) and Bryan K. Burnett: three grandchildren, Ava, Benjamin and Lucas: Her parents Kenneth Hoff and Ella: two siblings Laurie Hoff (David) and Steven Hoff. She also leaves behind many caring relatives and friends. Cindy is preceded in death by her mother Margaret Hoff.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest a donation to Woodschapel Cancer Care.
A visitation will be held Saturday February 24, 2018 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit, MO. Arrangements were provided by Speaks Funeral Home.
