MARY ANN BURTON
Mary Ann Burton, 85, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016. A visitation will be 10:00-11:00am on December 22, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 17200 E. 39th St. S., Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 11am at the church.
Mary Ann was born on August 24, 1931 in Davenport, IA to August and Katherine Sorensen. She spent most of her career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield where she worked her way up from secretary to sales manager. In her spare time she loved playing golf and cards with friends, especially bridge. Most of all she loved spending time with her family: her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann will be remembered by her sons Dick Burton and wife Carolyn of Raymore, MO, Steve Burton and wife Mary Anne of Greenwood, MO; brother Bob Sorensen and wife Carol of Le Claire, IA; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Burton, her sister Dorothy Stichter, and a brother Henry Sorensen. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation.
