Dorothy Butcher

Dorothy Kathleen "Kay� Butcher, 88 of Independence passed away Mar. 29, 2007 at the Monterey Park Nursing Center. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Missouri State Veteran�s Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Contributions are suggested to Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St. Indep. MO 64055. Mrs. Butcher was born on July 2, 1918 to Edd and Dorothy (Hattey) Baldus in Jackson County, MO. She worked for the Lake City Ammunitions Plant during WWII and also been the Bookkeeper for Butcher Standard Station for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sewing and embroidering. She was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of its United Methodist Women�s Group and the Prayer Chain. Kay was preceded in death by her husband Earl E. Butcher in 2001. She is survived by five children, Bob Butcher and wife Peggy of Lone Jack, MO, Ann Hughes and husband Archie of Independence, Margie Ryne and husband Ronnie of Bowling Green, KY, Jerry Butcher and wife Brenda of Independence and Sherrie Hamilton and husband Rod of Independence, MO. Thirteen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
