FABIAN S. BUTKOVICH
Fabian S. Butkovich, 88, Richmond, MO, formerly of Sugar Creek, MO passed away Dec. 16, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Sat., Dec. 22 at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, 11231 Chicago St., Sugar Creek, MO 64054; interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Fabian was born Jan. 19, 1924 in Sugar Creek, MO and lived there most of his life. He was a lifelong member of St. Cyril‘s Parish and a graduate of William Chrisman High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II. He worked as a boilermaker at the Standard Oil Co. refinery in Sugar Creek for thirty-five years and retired in 1981. He was also the owner of Fabian’s BBQ which later became the Blue Room in Sugar Creek. He was also a member of VFW Post #1000 and the Eagles Lodge. Fabian was preceded in death by daughter Marita Tjaden; son Joseph Butkovich; and brothers one stillborn, Peter, Thomas, Joseph, Michael, Anthony Butkovich and sister Irene Wrabec. He is survived by sons Thomas Joseph Butkovich, Sugar Creek, MO; Pete Butkovich, Richmond, MO; sisters Zita Standard, Independence, MO; Roze Ann Rittle and husband Jack; Mary Beale and husband John, all of Blue Springs, MO; brother Filip Butkovich and wife Janice, Independence, MO; seven grandchildren and many other family members.
