Kenneth Butterworth

March 6, 1925 — September 28, 2014

Kenneth Byron Butterworth, 89 years old of Independence, Mo passed away Sunday September 28, 2014 at Payton Place in Blue Springs, Mo surrounded by his family.
He was born March 6,1925 in Woodbine, Iowa to Frank and Sara Jane Butterworth. Siblings; Velva Davis, Lois Davis, Bob Butterworth, Eddie Butterworth, Beatrice Mengel, & Bernard Butterworth.
Kennie married the love of his life, Kathleen Hodges on June 30, 1951 at Walnut Park RLDS Church.
He graduated William Chrisman High School and then entered the Navy where he served 3 years in the Construction Battalion during WWII on a small island in the South Pacific. Upon his return he attended 1 year of electronics school and then attended Graceland College for 2 years. He was employed at Standard Oil Co. for 9 years, and then established his own company, Butterworth Electric Service in 1959 and employed many workers until his full retirement. Kennie enjoyed Church League Softball and coaching kid’s sports. He grew up a member of the RLDS Church & assisted in the establishment of the Buckner Restoration Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ. He served the Lord’s people as a Priest many years.
Kennie is survived by his wife of 63 years Kathleen Butterworth, four children and their spouses, Janet & Bob Gilbert, Susie Darling, Bill and Janie Butterworth, & Laurie & Harold Case, 11 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, &1 sister Beatrice Mengel.
Services will be held Saturday October 4, 2014 at Buckner Restoration Branch Church located at 2607 N Twyman Rd., Independence, Mo 64058. Visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 with Memorial Service following at 11:00 AM.
Special thanks to the Staff of Crossroads Hospice & Payton Place for their loving care for Kennie.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Buckner Restoration Church “Building Fund”
