David Buttram

May 7, 1941 — January 24, 2006

David Buttram, 64, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 24th at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gospel Tract Society, 1105 S. Fuller, Independence, MO 64050. David was born May 7, 1941 in Springfield, MO to Lester L. and Ethel B. (Thiemer) Buttram. He was a life-long member of the Assemblies of God Church. David was a life-time member of the African Violet Society of America, having hybridized a new variety named after Lady Bird Johnson. Mr. Buttram was currently the President of the Gospel Tract Society ( www.gospeltractsociety.org), and had made 40 mission trips to Haiti and several African countries. He was a board member of the William J. Murray Foundation, former deacon at church and Sunday School Teacher of the Keenagers Group at church. He was also the past President of the Independence Kiwanis Club. Mr. Buttram is survived by his wife Beth (Hamilton) Buttram of the home; brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas and Shirley Buttram, Phillip and Christine Buttram; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lester Paul Buttram. The family will be gathering at the Gospel Tract Society following the interment at the cemetery.
