John E. Byrne, 85, Independence, MO passed away June 2, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am, Thursday, June 7, 2007 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Independence, MO; interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm, Wed., followed by visitation from 6-8 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Heart Assoc. or St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
John was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Kansas City, MO. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. John worked at the Main Post Office in Kansas City for 33 years before retiring on Dec. 31, 1982.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Mary Byrne, and a brother Daniel Byrne. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Isabel Byrne, of the home; son Michael Byrne, Wichita, KS; daughters Theresa Lindsay and husband Phil, Pleasanton, KS; Rita Power and husband Brad, Phoenix, AZ; Marsena Alley and husband Bob, Montgomery, TX; son Patrick Byrne and friend Judi Sellmeier, Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter Mary Luder and husband Bob, Shawnee, KS; son Phil Byrne and wife Jennifer, Lee’s Summit, MO; sisters Mary Beirne, Kansas City, MO; Patricia Simpson, North Kansas City, MO; fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
