Ema "Betty Lou" Callahan

Ema "Betty Lou� Callahan, 90, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, October 18, 2004. Services will be 10 am Thursday, October 21st at George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home; with interment in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Northcare Hospice. Betty Lou was born August 28, 1914 in Fayette, MO to William and Minnie Stearns. She worked most all her life, first in the garment industry, then at Lake City Arsenal during WW II, and for 23 years at Woodcraft in Independence making archery bows. She was a 40-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #385. Betty Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maurice "Buck� Callahan; sisters, Callie Brown, Martha Helen Graham, her twin, Eva Sue Netherton; a brother, Gano Stearns; and nieces Joan Stanley and Donna Ford. She is survived by her nephews, Bob Graham and wife Gladys of Stockton, MO, Dennis Stearns of Iowa; niece, Beverly Butler of Higginsville, MO; three great nephews; five great nieces; five great great nephews; eight great great nieces; and one great great great nephew.
