Virginia Mae Calvert, 85, Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014.
Virginia was born March 11, 1929 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of John and Carrie (Cavender) Brown. She worked for a number of years with her parents at Brown’s Feed & Grocery Store and later co-owned Stans DX Service Station in Independence. Virginia was a charter member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, bowling and being with family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley W. Calvert; and her parents.
Survivors include her children, Pat Townsend (Chuck), Mike Calvert (Cindi), Rick Calvert (Laurine), Becky Calvert, and Kim Glynn (Tim); grandchildren, Carrie, Amanda, Sean, Sara, Chris, Joe, John, Tyler, Katelynn, and Jason; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Stewart; brother, John Brown (Pat); brother-in-law, Les Calvert (Marge); sisters-in-law, Linda Calvert, and Thelma Quick; loving friends, Pauline Huffman, Dale Williams, and Robyn Hayes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lobb Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
