Richard J. "Dick� Campbell, 88, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at The Groves. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 3-5:00 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2006 at Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Crysler Community of Christ Church. Dick was born October 5, 1917 in Adrian, MN to James Edward and Luna Mae (Doe) Campbell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII with the 43rd Engineers. Mr. Campbell was a High Priest in the church where he was a Pastor for 10 years. Dick retired from Anderson-Stoltz Corp. in 1986 after 20 years of service. He was an expert in the field of power hand tools and taught classes as needed at Johnson County Community College. Dick was known for his friendly and outgoing personality, not knowing a stranger. He enjoyed vegetable gardening in his spare time supplying his neighbors with fresh vegetables. Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ione (Clarkson) Campbell, daughters and sons-in-law Jane and Ron Schroer, Lori and Steve LeVine; grandchildren Jennifer, Bethany, Zachary and Nicholas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bob, Bud and Bill.
