Mary “Kaye” Cantwell, 79, of Odessa, MO, formerly of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, at St. George Catholic Church, Odessa, MO. Burial to follow at Floral Hills East in Lee’s Summit, MO. Kaye was born September 18, 1938 in Jefferson City, MO. She graduated from Eldon High School in 1956 and went on to attend nursing school in 1956 in Kansas City. Kaye was married to William J. Cantwell on June 6, 1957. Kaye worked as an Avon representative and CNA at Independence Regional Hospital, however, her most loved job was being a mother. She was a member of Red Hat Society in Independence. She enjoyed playing Bunco, going out to eat, attending church and spending time with loved ones. She was known for her kindness and nurturing ways. She was a selfless person her entire life, being a caretaker to many over the years. Kaye was preceded in death by her parents; Luther Morgan and Marguerite Kays Morgan; brother, James Michael John Morgan; husband, William James Cantwell; son, James Leo Cantwell; and daughter, Teresa S. Coffey. She is survived by son, Bill Cantwell of Odessa, MO; daughter, Tami (Cantwell) Schallenberg and husband Tony of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Joe Coffey, Alyssa Schallenberg and Sidney Schallenberg of Blue Springs, MO; sister, Gayle Schumacher of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; nephews, John Morgan of Arkansas and Jeff Morgan of Okinawa.
