Jack Crowson Cardwell

August 2, 1946 — March 29, 2022

Jack Crowson Cardwell, 75, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

Jack was born on August 2, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Delbert Crowson and Betty Boseman. Jack was raised by George and Ruby Cardwell from a young age moving to Kansas and then to Independence during his high school years where he attended and graduated from William Chrisman High School. Jack graduated with a bachelor’s from then known as Central Missouri State University. Jack enlisted in the military and was very proud to serve his country as a Marine in the Vietnam War. He returned safely home and was blessed with three children. In 2010 Jack married his long-time friend and the love of his life Kathy Henze and together created a lovingly fulfilled life with their beautiful, blended family.
Jack was an avid reader and read everything from history to mystery. He was a master of quotes that he tried to live his life by and instill in all who knew him.
His idea of a perfect night, was sitting on the couch with Kathy and their dog (the other love of his life) Chloe and watch a movie. He was the first to skip the meal and head to dessert - he loved sweets. He was a creature of habit and began each day with a Pepsi and some type of biscuit or treat from his beloved Dave’s Bakery.
Those close to Jack would say he was the best of friends. He was compassionate, considerate, very kind, fiercely loyal and extremely giving. Jack may best be known for the love he had for his family. He adored his children, grandchildren and Kathy. One of his favorite things to do was to talk to his family members and listen to the their stories - he especially loved the stories about his grandchildren and the many antics they got into. Jack so blessed the world with his presence and will be greatly missed.

Jack is survived by his wife, Kathy Cardwell; children, Georgia (Michael) Sanders, Samantha (Michael) Kilgore, John (Rebecca) Cardwell; stepdaughter, Laura (Jodi) Hobbs; grandchildren, John Sanders, Patrick Sanders, Jude Kilgore, Nicolina Kilgore, Sid Kilgore, Van Cardwell, Patrick Cardwell, Kaitlin Mangosing, Werner Mangosing, Chandler Hennessey; great grandchild, Willa McCullen; brother, Michael (Melanie) Crowson; nieces, Estella Crowson, Angelina Crowson; many dear friends.
