Dorothy Cargyle, 101, of Independence, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Rosewood Health Center. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2003 at Speaks Midtown Chapel. Visitation will be 9:30 until time of service� burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dorothy taught in the Kansas City, Missouri schools for 39 years, teaching at Thacher, E.F. Swinney and Graceland schools. She was a graduate of Kansas City Teacher�s College receiving a B.S. degree in Education. She did graduate work at the University oof Hawaii, University of Colorado, and Columbia University, New York City, receiving a Masters degree at UMKC. Dorothy was a member of the Retired Teacher�s Club and Phi Lambda Sigma Teachers Sorority. After retirement she was an Instructional Aide at Graceland School in Kansas City from 1972 to 1975 and a Site Coordinator from Stanford University for Head Start testing program in Kansas City, Missouri from 1975 to 1980. Ms. Cargyle was a member of RLDS Restoration Church. Two nieces Alice Gravendijk of Oak Grove, Missouri; Frances Denio, Blue Springs, Missouri; and one nephew, Dick Cargyle of Independence, Missouri, survive Dorothy.
