Wanda Almara (House) Carlton of Independence, MO passed away August 10, 2018. She was born June 15, 1936 at Low Gap, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gus Carlton, her parents Inez Ruth (Arbaugh) & Delbert House, mother & father-in-law Florence (Villines) & Arlie Carlton, brother-in-laws Jim Keef and Ruby Ray Carlton, nephew Roger Dale Edgmon.
Wanda is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Ronald & Joy Carlton, brother & sister-in-law Melvin & Dot House, sister & brother-in-law Phyllis & Ward Edgmon, sister Delberta Keef, sister-in-law Bobbie Carlton, many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and although she had no grandchildren there were little ones that called her Grandma.
Wanda and Gus married April 10, 1955 at Low Gap, AR. They worked and managed the Diamond Cave prior to moving to Kansas City, MO, later settling in Independence. Wanda worked for Sears for 28 years, working on the first type computer system using punch cards filling orders. She enjoyed life to the fullest, collecting dolls, member of the Santa Fe Trail Doll Club, Bowling League, and many others including the establishment and organizer of the Annual Sears Reunion which they held at Pomme De Terre Lake where they had a vacation home. They loved fishing, picnicking, neighborhood gatherings and fish frys with family and friends. Wanda was always the life of the party, dressing up, cutting up, and surprising people. You never had to wander the Holiday or what event she was celebrating. And she always enjoyed her trips back home to Arkansas.
Although we morn her death, we will always remember her celebrating life.
Visitation will be held Wednesday August 15th. from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th. Street, Independence, MO
Service will be held Saturday August 18th. at 2:00 P.M. at the Low Gap Church, Low Gap, AR burial in Low Gap Cemetery.
