Carolyn Sue Donavant Grover, 82, passed away on March 25, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born on February 28, 1942. She met the love of her life, Robert LaVern Grover, at a USO dance in 1959. They married in 1962 and then had four children: Denise Grover Swank, David Scott Grover (Kaye), Kevin Robert Grover (Janné), and Rick Grover (Lori). She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren. One grandchild preceded her in death, as did her parents, LeRoy Donavant and Eleanor Helen Andlauer Donavant, and her brother, Larry King Donavant.
Carolyn was full of life and never met a stranger, especially after she roped them in with her many stories. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved researching her family tree. She was a charter member in the auxiliary of the Missouri and Kansas chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Independence Pioneers. She was excited to recently join P.E.O. Sisterhood, which provides educational opportunities for female students. She was also an active member of Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, joining Sunday and Bible classes, helping organize Trunk or Treat, and working with Cancer Connection, but she most especially loved working in the food pantry and connecting with people who needed assistance.
Carolyn’s life exemplified a profound love of family, a strength of faith, and a generous and joyful spirit that welcomed all.
