Kenneth E. Carpenter, 84 of Independence, passed away Thu. May 4, 2006. Services will be 1:30 pm, Mon. May 8, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep. MO. With the visitation being held from 12:30 pm until service time. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Community of Christ Church. Mr. Carpenter was born on Mar. 4, 1922 to Raymond and Mary Carpenter in Kansas City, MO. He had been a PBX Installer with Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring in 1983 after 37 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Kenneth was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved doing woodwork, especially making furniture for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going fishing. He was an Elder in the Community of Christ Church and had previously attended The Sterling Ave. congregation where he had also been the Scout Master for troop 250. He was a veteran of WWII and had served with the Third Marine Division in the South Pacific and during the Guam Invasion. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Carpenter of Independence. A son Keith Carpenter and wife Betty of Independence. A daughter, Carol Carpenter of Lee�s Summit, MO. Two grandchildren, Mikealene Evans and Brian Carpenter. Two step grandchildren, Cheryl Belcher and Eric Long and by eleven great grandchildren.
