Mary Carpenter, 89, of Independence, passed away peacefully at Lee Summit Hospital, Wednesday, September 26, 2012, surrounded by family. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; 611 N. Liberty St. Independence, MO 64050. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39 St. Independence. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mary was born December 20, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri and was a life long resident. She married Francis Carpenter November 17, 1945. They were together for over 70 years and had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary November 2011. Their hearts are once again together in eternal life. While they will be greatly missed we are happy they are at peace together again. Mary held the prestigious position of being a stay at home mom. In her later years she was a teacher’s assistant at Holy Cross Catholic School. She was a member St Mary’s Catholic Church of Independence, MO and the Altar Rosary Society. Mary worked as a volunteer at the church food pantry and many other ministries within the catholic community. Her true passion and dedication was the love of her life and her children. Mary was a wonderful mother who will deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Carpenter and three grandsons, Ben Carpenter, Steven Fehr and Christopher Kuklenski. She leaves behind her legacy of 11 children 7 boys and 4 girls: Chuck and Donna Carpenter, Carolyn and Anthony Ross, Greg and Marcia Carpenter, Tim and Vickie Carpenter, Teresa and Len Kuklenski, Paul and Maria Carpenter, Bob and Talena Carpenter, James and Tracy Carpenter, Janine and Jim Urness, Mike and Daria Carpenter and Patricia and Dan Fehr. Her legacy will continue on thru her 27 grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Michelle Lile, Tony Ross-Maddi, Christi Ryan, Nicole Musick, Ryan and Jonathan Carpenter, Brian and Emily Carpenter, Rebecca Mueller, Beth Malinowski, Julie Long, Tara Crownover, Stephen DeFeo, Anne and Alex Carpenter, James, Andrew, Joshua and Michael Carpenter, Jimmy Urness, Kevin, Jason and Jeff Carpenter and Adam, Mary and Robbie Fehr; and through her 23 great grandchildren.
