Paul F. Carrender, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, February 25th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Friday, February 26th at the chapel. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
Paul was born July 4, 1926 in Cole County, MO as one of three boys to Charles and Lula (Long) Carrender. He graduated from Eugene H.S. class of 1944. He married his beloved Ruby Fern (Call) on July 8, 1947. Together they raised five children. He worked for Cedar Crest Dairy for over 20 years and then for Safeway for over 18 years until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed gardening flowers, playing gospel music on the piano, and singing as a young man, and playing in the Mozarkians Quartet. He was a faithful Christian and long time member of First Baptist Church of Grain Valley. His family remembers his mild demeanor and love of friends and family.
Survivors include wife, Ruby of the home; son, Wayne and wife Janet of Independence, MO; son, Roger and wife Dee of Buckner, MO; son Dale and wife Joyce of Independence; son, Brent of Liberty, MO; son-in-law, Leon Nieder of Blue Springs, MO; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Wesley and beloved daughter, Donna Nieder in 2009.
