Bonnie Bernita Carroll, 84 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Maywood Baptist Church 10505 E. Winner Rd., Independence, MO 64052 with burial to follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to Maywood Baptist Church. Bonnie was born December 29, 1933 in Liberty, MO to Leslie G. and Leta (Chastain) Christian and has been a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Central High School, KC, MO. Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed crafts, gardening, reading, and was known for her handwritten, encouraging letters to family and friends. She was a faithful member of Maywood Baptist Church where she served as pre-school Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. Later, she taught adult Sunday school and managed the decorations for the church library. Survivors include; her loving husband of nearly 65 years, James “Rex” Carroll of the home; 3 sons, Greg Carroll (wife Ginger), Steve Carroll (wife Kay), all of Lee’s Summit, and Brad Carroll (wife Sherry) of Independence; Six grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Philip, Tracy, Shannon and Molly and ten great grandchildren.
