James Wilbur Carter, 85, Independence, MO passed away Monday, September 16, 2013.
James was born August 19, 1928 in Durant, OK, the son of William Augustus and Ruby (Canon) Carter. James was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #21. He was a district manager for Westinghouse, GMAC. James was preceded in death by one sister; three brothers; and his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife Tila Carter; daughter, Jeanelle McAtee; sons Brian Carter and Brad Carter; step-children, Cyrus and Daphane Fruean; six grandchildren; and his sisters, Ruth Lowry and Lois Parker. Memorial services will be private at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
