Jeanne L. Carter, 55, of Lee’s Summit, MO was carried by her angels into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 15, 2007. All friends are invited to a service of praise and remembrance on Thursday, October 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, 2 NE Douglas, Lee’s Summit, MO. Visitation will follow until 9:30 p.m. A memorial service honoring Jeanne’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at the church. Burial will be in Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jeanne L. Carter Music Therapy/Hospice Fund c/o the Bank of Lee’s Summit.
Jeanne was born August 4, 1952, in Fort Meade, MD to Glenn and Agnes (Ingram) Baker. She lived in Germany, New Cumberland, PA and El Paso, TX, during her early years. Jeanne attended school in Grandview, MO graduating from Grandview High School in 1970 and from the University of Missouri in 1974. She was married to Michael R. Turner in 1974. Michael passed away in 1980. Jeanne was blessed with the birth of two of her children, Brian in 1977 and Jennifer in 1980, during this marriage. She married Elton L. Carter in 1983 and was blessed with the birth of her daughter Erin in 1985.
Jeanne and Elton raised their family in Lee’s Summit. Jeanne was very active in her children’s lives, assisting in their church, Campfire, Girl Scouts, and many school activities. Her family traveled extensively in the summer time with the trips always creatively planned for learning and family fun. Her creativity was also greatly reflected in many types of sewing and craft projects, most of which became gifts for others. Jeanne was both a church family member and staff member at First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and son Brian. She is survived by her husband Elton and daughters, Jennifer and Erin, her sister Janice Plumbley and brother Charles Baker.
Jeanne devoted herself completely to the welfare of her family. She modeled Christian faith and love to them and to all who knew her. She will live in all their hearts everyday until they are joined with her, praising the victory of eternal life with their precious Lord and Savior.
