Richard Joseph Carter of Independence, Missouri, 70, passed away in his home on February 14, 2020.
Richard was born on March 19, 1949, the son of Norman and Rosa Carter. He attended Van Horn High School, worked for over 30 years at Armco Steel Mill, but found his passion working at Lowe's hardware store for the last 10 years of his career. He was married to his loving wife Connie for 50 years. Together they had two boys, Jeremy (wife Tammy) and Nathan (wife Amanda). Richard especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Joey, Kyle, Kaden, and Jayden. He loved Boy Scouts and attending school functions best. He spent his retirement years enjoying trips to Branson with his wife Connie.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Rosa Carter, and sister, Mid Canning. He is survived by his brother, Nick Carter of Independence, and sisters, Julie Anderson of Independence, Maggie Boyd of Independence, Mary Sue Young of Lee's Summit, and Judy Sanford of Springfield, VA.
Richard was one of the most genuine, caring, soft spoken men. He made everyone around feel special and valued. He will be missed by many.
Until we see you again one day, we will hold on to the memories and live life the way you would want us to live.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, from 1-3pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street in Independence.
