Marilyn Carver, 75, of Independence, MO passed away July 24, 2018. Visitation will be 1:30-3pm Friday, July 27, 2018 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3pm at the chapel. Burial will take place in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Marilyn was born on April 20, 1943 in New Orleans, LA. After her father’s service in the Navy the family returned to Independence. Marilyn was a graduate of William Chrisman High School. She worked in banking for several years before leaving to raise a family. Marilyn was known as “Grandma Marilyn” to the neighborhood. One of the greatest joys of her life was spending time on her front porch with the neighbors. Everyone was welcome from the youngest to the oldest. She was a great listener and always a safe haven for all. Survivors include: her loving husband of over 49 years James “Jim” Carver I, daughter Tammy Samuels; son James “Jimmie” Carver II and his wife Vicki; sisters Cynthia Ford and her husband Dohn and Lesa Weimann and her husband Rodney; extended family and many friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents.
