Vinita Mae Casey, 84, died peacefully at Big Bend Retreat in Slater, Missouri, on January 16,
2019, due to complications of dementia. A visitation will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, January 23rd at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055, with a graveside service following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence.
Born July 6, 1934, in Sibley, Missouri, Vinita was the daughter of the late Roy Farris and Lela (Ryan) Farris. She graduated from Buckner High School, where among her many
accomplishments, she was proudest of being the piano accompanist for the school choirs. On December 26, 1953, Vinita married Neil Vincent Casey in Kansas City, Missouri, who preceded her in death in May of 1996. Neil and Vinita owned and operated AAA Sanitation in the Kansas City area for many years. After selling the business, Neil and Vinita enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include son Mark Casey, grandsons Adam, Sean, and Chris Casey, and several great-grandchildren. Vinita is also survived by her longtime friend and sister-in-law, Willa Farris, and longtime friend, Lillian Sparks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the
Alzheimer’s Association.
