Melba Delores Casteel, 82, of Independence, Missouri, entered glory on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 24, 1936 in Lesterville, Missouri the daughter of the late Dan and Edna Boxx. Melba grew up in Texas and Missouri. She met the love of her life in Annapolis, Missouri and married Charles Lee Casteel in 1952. Melba was a Bible class teacher in multiples churches across the nation and a pastor in Des Arc, Missouri before her husband answered the call to pastor Revival Temple in St. Louis, Missouri. Melba loved God and fervently prayed for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a student of God’s Word. She loved sewing and painting.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Reverend Charles Lee Casteel, her daughter June Duncan (husband Wesley) of La Center, Washington, daughter Joni Cosgrove (husband Edward) of Kansas City, Missouri, son Reverend Timothy Casteel (wife Robin) of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and daughter Delinda Smith (husband Timothy) of Independence, Missouri, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents Dan and Edna Boxx, her sister Bobbie Boxx and a grandson Braxton Smith.
Funeral service will be at the Rose of Sharon Church, 9621 East 38th Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, April 27, 2018. Viewing will be from 1-2:00 pm; service begins at 2:00 p.m. Officiating are Pastor Dalin Antwiler, Pastor Daryl Burch and Pastor Timothy Casteel. A private interment will be held for family at Floral Hills East Memorial.
