Floyd "Dale� Castle, 57, of Independence passed away at North Kansas City Hospital on October 5, 2006. Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 10, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Visitation will be 7-8:30 pm Monday, October 9, at the chapel. Dale was born in Fort Madison, Iowa on January 24, 1949 to Floyd Everett and Cora Esther Castle. When Dale was in grade school the family moved to Independence, Missouri in 1956 where he lived his entire life. He had the reputation for having a strong work ethic and his first job as a youngster was delivering Examiner newspapers, including to former President Harry S. Truman�s house. Dale attended high school at William Chrisman High School where he was on the Varsity Golf team, was President of his class and graduated in 1967. Dale was not only a businessman but he earned his pilot�s license in 1972 and loved flying his airplane. He began a business called Independence Air Charter and flew businesspeople, doctors, politicians and transplant organs for Flight for Life around the United States. Mr. Castle also owned and operated other businesses - Independence Alignment and Marrs Beeline. He was also a Sugar Creek policeman for 23 years. Dale was very active and besides flying, other hobbies included riding his motorcycle to NASCAR races annually in Indianapolis, boating in the Ozarks, snowmobiling in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Colorado, and snow skiing in Colorado. He was also a huge Chiefs fan and flew his airplane all over the United States attending their games. Mr. Castle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was an Elder in the Priesthood. He is survived by his daughter Jaqueline Renee and husband Carl Layton of Independence; son Bryan Scott Castle and his mother Beverly Castle of Independence; His stepmother Rosalie Castle of Burlington, Kansas; Also survived by six siblings - sister Karen Armstrong and husband Charles of Pleasant Hill, sister Linda Gordon of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, brother Leroy Castle of Nampa, Idaho, sister Janet Castle of Blue Springs, sister Betty (BJ) Nikkel and husband Philip of Loveland, Colorado, sister Laurie Houston and husband Mike of Leroy, Kansas; three adored grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ian and Madison Layton and a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Dale. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Floyd E. Castle and Cora E. Castle; and a brother Everett Earl Castle. Online condolences may be left at www.speakschapel.com.
