Wilbur Wayne Cathcart, 87, Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
Wilbur was born November 13, 1925 in Archie, MO the son of James W. and Mattie Mae (Lawson) Cathcart. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving with the occupational forces stationed in Tokyo, Japan at the end of WWII. Wilbur was a journeyman electrician by trade and was a member of the IBEW Local #124 for 54 years. He worked on numerous projects throughout the city including, Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadiums and the Independence Center. Wilbur enjoyed the outdoors and working on mowers and projects around the home.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Betty Cathcart in 2005; sister, Edith Wood; and his parents.
Survivors include his daughters, Shirley Slayton and husband Daniel, Vicki Cathcart, Kathy Killoy and husband John; grandchildren, Rebecca Hall, Deborah Fordyce, Angeline Slayton, William and Megan Killoy; ten great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and additional nieces, nephews, and family.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Kansas City area-American Heart Association or the Kansas City area-American Diabetes Association.
