James Marcus “Jamie” Cearley, a devoted father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He was 66. Jamie was born to J.B. and Joyce Cearley on November 9, 1954 in Lubbock, Texas. He loved his family fiercely and when he wasn’t working, he enjoyed making memories with his children. They would spend many weekends camping at Smithville or Stockton Lake. He taught not only his children, but most of their friends, how to water ski and tested their strength while taking them tubing. Jamie is remembered as a fun dad and always made things exciting. He recently got to walk his daughter, Melissa, down the isle on her special day which he enjoyed and talked about so much. Jamie was a hard worker and the proud owner of Jamie’s Automotive Machine Shop for roughly 23 years. He was a book of knowledge when it came to cars and spent many hours working on motors with his son, Matt. They had a special relationship. After Jamie retired, he entrusted his son with the business and helped guide him along the way. Matt quickly learned that his father was a little messy, had quirks of his own, and that he would never again see that 10-millimeter socket his dad borrowed. They were blessed to have 12 years together working side by side. Jamie had a witty sense of humor, never hesitated to help those in need without asking for a thing in return, and became fast friends with everyone he met. He will be missed greatly. Jamie is survived by his daughter, Melissa Badder (Shad); son, Matt Cearley; grandchildren, Laci Cearley, Carter Cearley; and siblings, Randall, Ramona and Ron. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Rachel. Cremation is planned and a BBQ Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 24th at the VFW Post 3976, 12810 E. Kentucky Rd., Sugar Creek, Mo. 64050.
