Donald Chadwick, 78, of Independence, MO passed away August 1, 2016. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Memorial services will be 10am Friday, August 5, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Independence. Don was born on October 28, 1937 in Independence, Mo to Jesse and Madelyn (Cochran) Chadwick. He was a graduate of William Chrisman High School, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Cannon. After High School, Don attended the University of Missouri, where he received his B.S. in Business Administration. While attending the university, Don played football where he was co-captain his senior year. In 2011 Don was inducted into the University of Missouri Athletic Hall of Fame.While at the University of Missouri, Don was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He was tapped for membership in Mystical Seven, a secret society that initiates seven outstanding seniors every year, chosen for their good deeds and selfless leadership and service to the campus and community. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church in Independence for over 20 years. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for over 33 years as a Line Supervisor Don was a very kind man, he was non judgmental, and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family. After weekends fishing, he loved to gather everyone together for a Sunday brunch fish fry. Survivors include; wife of 59 years, Patty Chadwick; daughter Kelley Reetzke (John); son Kyle Chadwick (Teresa); daughter Becky Genge (John); brother Jerold Chadwick; sister Helen DiStasio; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild with 1 on the way; large extended family and host of friends. Don is preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
