Edward Rex “Ed” Chadwick, 70, passed Feb. 24, 2020. Visitation Thurs., Feb. 27, from 1-2pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., followed by a 2:30pm graveside in Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Ed was born on September 12, 1949, at Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Edward R. Chadwick Sr. and Mary Louise Odom Chadwick. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1968. After high school, he spent about six years working for Tension Envelopes. He then went to work as a truck driver for Yellow Freight Company and was also a member of Teamsters Local 41. After 34 years of service, he retired from there in 2011.
Ed loved his family and friends. He married Lily Bell Batten in 1984. Although he worked long hours, his wife and his son, Brian, were never far from his heart. When he was able, he enjoyed hunting and fishing near Lowry City, MO. He and Lily also made many memories visiting the Grand Canyon and California together, and Ed got the chance to see parts of Canada and Jamaica as a solo traveler. He was a true-blue fan of the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He could often be found listening to classic rock and country music while doing his signature “freestyle” dancing.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Lily; his father, Edward Chadwick Sr.; and his mother and step-father, Mary Louise and Alvin E. Buell.
Ed is survived by his son, Brian Chadwick (wife Trina); grandchildren, Andrew Chadwick and Alec Giglio (wife Jessica); brothers, Stephen Brown, Dean Brown, and Mike Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
