Lyla Faye Chambers, 90 of Blue Springs, MO passed away, Monday, April 28, 2014 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, MO. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Noland Road Baptist Church 4505 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to the Noland Rd. Baptist Church. Lyla was born February 21, 1924 in Easton, MO to Grant V. and Lula Mae (Coffee) Williams. She graduated from Amity High School in 1941. She had worked in real estate for a number of years and retired in 1996 as a real estate sales executive for Coldwell Banker Realty. She was a world traveler and had been on several cruises. She enjoyed gardening, baking, quilting, sewing, painting, ballroom dancing and playing the piano. She was a member of the Noland Rd. Baptist Church where she was in the Ambassador Club and was an usher. She was also a member and Queen Mother of the Noland Rd. Red Hat Society, several bridge clubs, YMCA, the Victorian Society, the Neighborhood Council, the KC Board of Realtors, the Girls Club of Missouri, Independence Young Matrons and was on the advisory board for Mark Twain Bank. She was married to Donald M. Chambers on August 27, 1941; he preceded her in death in 1977. Survivors include; 2 sons, Sheldon Chambers and wife Debbie and Larry Chambers all of Blue Springs, MO; a former daughter-in-law, Marilyn Chambers of Kansas City, MO; 5 grandchildren, Heather Kinsland, Andy Chambers, Ryan Chambers, Lacy Blanchette and Erin Portell; 11 great grandchildren and a niece Yvonna Beachamp in Sherman TX. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Donald K. Chambers in 2001 and a sister, Glenna Hawman.
