F. Irene Chaney

F. Irene Chaney, 91, of Independence, MO passed away, Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Burial will follow in Brooking Cemetery. Irene was born October 7, 1921, in Independence, MO to George W. and Flossie (Thomas) Arrowsmith and has been a lifelong area resident. She had worked at Betty Rose Coats and Suits. In her retirement she became an avid and accomplished quilter and sewer who earned several awards for her work in regional craft competitions. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Arrowsmith and Flossie Hickerson; a brother, George Arrowsmith, Jr., and her husband of 39 years Dennis Chaney. She is survived by: her partner of 31 years, John Flackmiller, his son and three daughters and their respective children; a daughter and son-in-law, Dalene and Dale Philpott; her granddaughter, Min Jung, as well as her niece and her husband, Carol Jean and Stan Webb.
