James Albert Chapman, 78 of Independence, MO passed away, Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Sunday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the DAV. James was born May 27, 1934 in Lawrence County, MO to James W. and Geneva (Winfield) Chapman. He had worked a number of years as a manager for Wal-Mart and had helped open the Warrensburg, MO store. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and gardening. He proudly served in the US Army after college. He was married to Evelyn (Kirchner) on August 17, 1984; she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 2 step sons, Steven Stark and his wife Maria of Grain Valley, MO and Bruce Stark and his companion Jerry Whitney of Canajoharie, NY; 3 sisters, Shirley Harris of Summersville, MO, Dora Jane Bass and husband Leslie of Sarcoxie, MO and Linda Lee of Jefferson City, MO; 2 grandchildren, Skylar Stark and Reagan Stark and nieces and nephews.
