Charles Ralph Byrd

Charles Ralph Byrd, 86 of Kansas City, MO passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his residence.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Blue Springs Cemetery.  Charles was born October 1, 1937 in Neosho, MO to Walter and Mary (Boyd) Byrd and attended public schools there and worked on the family farm.  He later moved to the Kansas City area and worked laborer and later a foreman for Ceco Construction for 29 years before he retired.  He enjoyed going to garage sales, fixing lawnmowers and was a clock collector.  He was a member of the Construction and General Laborer’s Union local 1290.  He was married to Barbara (Thurston) on September 19, 1962 and they enjoyed 47 years together until her passing in 2009.  He is survived by; 5 children, Mary Wilson and husband Steve of Independence, MO, Jennifer Sisk and husband Jamie of Holden, MO, Sheila Georgina and husband Bruce, Angie Fleischer and husband James and Tammy Cooper all of Grain Valley, MO; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
