Captain Charles Aubrey Garrett, 84 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial with full Military and Fire Department honors will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask for donations to be made to: Independence 76 Fire Company, 220 N. Lynn St., Independence, MO. 64050 and/or: The Salvation Army. Chuck was born August 6th, 1940, in Stoutland, MO to Floyd H. and Hazel L. (Breedlove) Garrett. He was a dedicated veteran of the U.S. Army, Lee’s Summit Police Department, and retired as a Captain from the Independence Fire Department after 27 years of selfless service. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, reading and, most of all, spending time with his beloved wife and family. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Gerster Baptist Church in Gerster, MO. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn; son, Charles, & wife, Carolyn; son, Stephen, & wife, Shaunte; son, Kevin; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five brothers, a sister, nephews, nieces, and a very special niece/daughter.
