Donald “Don” L. Cherry, 55, of St. Clair, MO, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in Creve Coeur, MO surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Don was born September 7, 1956, in Belleville, IL, the son of Fred and Grace (Wittmer) Cherry. He was a 1974 graduate of Truman High School and studied engineering at the University of Missouri. Don had a successful career and was well respected in the die casting industry. He was Vice President of Engineering for St. Clair Die Casting, St. Clair; Vice President, Program Management and Sales for Sourcennex, Wilmette, IL and most recently Manager of Engineering for Contech Castings, Clarksville, TN. He was a member of the North American Die Casting Association. Don was a member of Eastgate Christian Church in Independence. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid reader, investor, and loyal sports fan of both Kansas City and St. Louis teams. Don is survived by his parents of Independence; sister Linda (Jeffrey) Goff of Lee’s Summit; beloved companion Diana Sanders of St. Clair; sister in law, Annetta Cherry of Kansas City; nephews and niece, Ryan (Tabbie) Cherry of Blue Springs, Kyle (Leslie) Cherry of Independence, Alex and Madison Goff of Lee’s Summit; great niece and nephews, and other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving brother, Wayne Cherry. Don will be dearly missed by his family and friends and will forever be in our hearts.
