Alice K. Chesworth

Alice Chesworth, 95, of Independence, MO passed away peacefully on June 5, 2006 at the Rosewood Health Center, while listening to her grandson Don Chesworth III sing hymns of their faith. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, at the Groves Community Chapel, and the service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa. Contributions may be made to the World Service Corp. of the Community of Christ Church, World Headquarters, Independence, MO. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Clara (Belle) and Arthur Lane; her husband of 46 years, Donald Chesworth, who died in 1981; and her two sisters, Thelma Silsby and Grace Kanawyer. She is survived by her son, Don and his wife Catherine of Rochester, NY; her grandchildren, Cynthia Grace Thompson and husband John of Raleigh, NC, Deborah Katheryn Bardeen and husband Christopher of Raleigh, NC, Donald Chesworth III of Princeton, NJ; and their mother, Carol Gibson of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Haydon Andrew Thompson and Savannah Lane Thompson of Raleigh, NC; her nieces, Junia Braby and Margaret Grice of Independence, MO; her nephews, Jim Silsby of Lamoni, IA and Jim Kanawyer of Premont, CA. Alice was a dedicated and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who gave her life in service to her family, her church and her community through the ministry of music and teaching. She was still singing solos in church, and teaching young children how to read when she was 92 years old. We will all miss her.
