Christine Raye McPherson (Shockey), 66, of Blue Springs, MO passed away suddenly on January 22nd, 2025 at St. Luke’s Medical Center on the Plaza. Christine was born on October 21st, 1958 in Trenton, Missouri to Charles & Veda Shockey (Wood.) She attended Fort Osage High School, where she learned about her passion for the medical field. Christine worked for many local hospitals in Obstetrics as an OB Technician. She started her career at the Medical Center of Independence, and finished her career at St. Luke’s East Hospital. Christine was well liked and loved among co-workers, which was evident in her passing. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, best friends, and family. She was an active member in the church, and a devout Christian. Her favorite hobbies were running errands on Saturday mornings, swimming, going to lunch at a new spot, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs win (she was always hoping for an interception!)
Christine is survived by her only daughter, Serena McPherson, her sister Kathy Swayne (Shockey) and multiple nieces and nephews, other family members, as well as close friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Veda Shockey.
Christine was a devout friend to many, and always a shoulder to lean on in the time of need. She was known for being the type of person to give you the shirt off her back, even if she didn’t have much to give. She made sure the people in her life knew they were loved, and was always giving everyone a silly little nickname (even if sometimes they were a little inappropriate.) She dedicated her life to God, and serving a purpose on his behalf, which was evident in her involvement with her Bible Study Fellowship group she loved attending on Wednesdays. She was always the first person to raise money or help out someone in need, and loved buying graduation gifts, birthday gifts, or ‘just because’ gifts. One could say her love language was gift giving, even if the gift was just her presence. She loved watching the wildlife outside her window, naming every single bunny rabbit she saw, which she always thought was a sign from God.
Christine’s celebration of life will be held on January 31st, 2025 at Speaks Suburban Chapel on 39th street. Visitation is from 1-2pm, with a service to follow at 2pm. Donations can be made to Hope House or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital in lieu of flowers, if you prefer.
