Chrysanne Casteel

March 18, 1942 — January 5, 2025

Blue Springs

Chrysanne (Embry) Casteel, born on March 18, 1942, in Booneville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. She was a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, known for her unwavering strength, feisty spirit, and a heart full of love.

The daughter of Helen Augusta Stegner of Billingsville, Missouri Chrysanne adopted a can-do spirit from early childhood which she mentioned as “growing up on the farm”. She dedicated most of her adult working years to the United Super Grocers locally operated by the Fisher family, where she specialized in customer service. From the very first day of the Blue Springs Jerry’s U.S. location opening until its closure, she was a fiercely loyal employee who took immense pride in her role. Her dedication to customer service was evident in her interactions, always making patrons feel valued and welcome. Outside of her professional life, Chrysanne embraced family and thoroughly enjoyed playing games of various kinds. She particularly loved engaging in games with her grandchildren, exemplifying her spirited nature as she showed them no mercy. Each victory was hard-fought, imparting an important lesson about earning success that she cherished sharing with them. She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A cold Coca-Cola, especially when it came from McDonalds, brought her happiness. She loved dining out with her family and was particularly fond of Texas Roadhouse late in life. In her leisure time, she often enjoyed watching game shows, the Hallmark movie channel, and always having a stack of books nearby from the used bookstore. Chrysanne’s personality was marked by her perseverance and her ability to love wholeheartedly. She faced many losses and trials throughout her life, yet she lived each day with extraordinary grace. Her proudest moments were speaking of the accomplishments of her two boys and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren they provided her with, whom she considered her world.

Chrysanne’s passing was preceded by her mother, Helen Stegner, and her husbands, David Childs, Thomas Casteel, Bart Noll, and Kenny Clemmons. Her loving legacy lives on through her children, Anthony Casteel and Mike Childs (Dawn); her bonus children Cecelia Emmerich, Traci Greenwood and Chris Noll; her grandchildren, Megan Crews (Kyle), Christian Childs (Caitlin), Cameron Casteel, and Serena Wood; and her siblings, Patti Morales (Marvin) and William Grimes (Janet), as well as six great-grandchildren.

Chrysanne will be honored with a visitation on January 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055.
