Mary Claibourn, 97, of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A graveside service will be at 1pm Saturday, September 23 at Mount Washington Cemetery.
Mary was born on January 9, 1920 in Kansas City, MO to George and Hattie (Hedberg) Kennedy. She attended Manual High School where she excelled in bookkeeping, shorthand and lettered in swimming. After high school she began working at Sears. Mary enjoyed reading, making beaded dolls and latch-hook rugs, playing cards and Chuck Norris. She did not want to be interrupted during Walker Texas Ranger! Most of all she loved the holidays with family and visiting their Pomme de Terre lake house.
Mary will be remembered by her daughters Georgia Phillips (John), Susan DeMoro (Frank); son Jerry Smith (Donna); brother John Kennedy; 15 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great grandchild; plus several other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Claibourn, daughter Ginger Enloe, grandsons Michael Carullo, Ronnie Tittle, Hank Tittle, Robbie Pokorny, and great-grandson Billy Thomas.
