Clarence L. Peel, Sr., 98, of Independence MO, died Tuesday, April 1, 2025 peacefully at his home. Born June 14, 1926 in Slater MO, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Elizabeth McMellen Peel. On June 1, 1952 he married Anna Marie (Winston), and they resided in Slater/Gilliam then later moved to Independence Missouri where they lived together for 57 years before she preceded him in death on June 5, 2022.
Clarence was a veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy from May 25, 1944 until June 11, 1946 and the U.S. Navy Reserve from June 12, 1946 until June 11, 1954. He worked for the Gulf Mobile & Ohio Railroad and then later the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for a total of 37 years until he retired on June 19, 1987. Clarence was an avid and skilled woodworker and loved to tinker around in his well-equipped workshop.
He is survived by his son, Gregory Peel (Terri) and daughter, Beckie Hilliard, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Clarence L. Peel Jr.
