James Albert "Jim" Clark

November 21, 1932 — May 11, 2015

James “Jim” Albert Clark was born November 21, 1932, in Pleasant Hill, MO, to John George Clark and Sadie (Olinger) Clark. He went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, May 15 at the Village Heights Community of Christ Church, 1009 Farview Drive, Independence, MO 64056. Interment at the Higginsville National Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO at a later date.. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America most of his life and was bestowed, by H. Roe Bartle, with the name “Tall Elk” in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. As a young man he played baseball in the minor and major leagues. In 1951, during the Korean War, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for two years. After being Honorably Discharged from the Marines, in 1953 he enlisted in the Army, was wounded in Korea and was Honorably Discharged in 1956. He was active in the Civil Air Patrol for many years, where he served as a Lieutenant. He was a Life Member of American Legion Post 1000. During his working career he drove a Wonder Bread delivery truck, a city bus, a KCI Airport Express bus and retired from Jefferson Bus Lines. He retired briefly and then went to work for the Community of Christ World Headquarters, with the Worship Commission and in security. He was very devoted to family and church life. He was baptized March 28, 1943 and was Ordained to the Office of Deacon, in the RLDS Church on December 10, 1972. He was a member of the Village Heights Community of Christ Church in Independence, MO, for 47 years. He was married to his beloved Laverne on May 27, 1960. He is survived by two brothers, Fred and Bob and one sister Lucille, his wife Laverne, one daughter, Debbie Price (Mark), 3 sons, Jim (Marcie), Brett (Sarah), Kevin (Angi), 10 grandchildren, Josh (Amy), Jessica, Breanna, Luke, Justyce, Brooke, Alyssa, Kelsie, Colt, Samantha, Benjamin and Jennifer; and three great-children:: Avery, Kaylee and Isabelle.
