Norma “Ann” Salter Clark, 81 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Villages of Jackson Creek. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1915 N. Liberty St., Independence, MO 64050. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the Hopewell Cemetery in Weatherby, MO. Donations may be made in her name to Calvary Baptist Church. Ann was born June 5, 1936 to Norman W. and Donna (Aydelotte) Salter. She grew up in Arkansasdelta near the Mississippi River except for 4 years during WWII when her father worked at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. And she and her mother lived there. She came back to Dermott, AR and was surprised by a new sister and baby brother and soon joined by another baby sister. Her life in a small town consisted of many activities in Dermott Public Schools and the Dermott Baptist Church. She graduated from Dermott High School and went to Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR where she met her husband, Dwight C. Clark from Maysville, MO. They married in 1955 and graduated together in 1958. Ann got her degree in Elementary Education. Dwight was an associate pastor in 2 churches in Arkansas while they were students. They lived in Independence 3 times for a total of 33 years. Ann was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Her husband served as pastor there from 1978-1988. They served churches in Missouri, Kansas and Michigan and were International Mission Board missionaries in the Bahama Islands. Ann taught schools in Stansberry, MO and taught small groups thru the years in various churches. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano and teaching. She also enjoyed the challenge of praying with and for people and had a card ministry. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dwight who died January 31, 2016. She is survived by; her sister, Nancy Matlock (Stueart) of Benton, AR, a brother, Don Salter (Rose) of Paris, IL; sister, Carol Stuart (Buster) of Little Rock, AR; nephews, nieces and a great great nephew and niece, who brought her great joy, and the many people who prayed with her and for her.
